Who We Are

We are a vital node in the chain of global feminist efforts, designed to bridge the gap between grand, often inaccessible, macro-level organizations and the decentralized, often low-effort, micro-level online chats.

What Femthropocene Is Not

We are clear about what Femthropocene is not, to ensure our space remains focused and productive for our specific community:

  • Not typical professional development or “sisterhood” workshop series: While we value collaboration, our focus is on deep intellectual and creative work, not career coaching.
  • Not another asynchronous chat platform: We are not a Discord server, Crystal Cafe, or Reddit forum for general feminist topics or casual discussion. These spaces already exist in abundance and serve a different purpose.
  • Not a macro-level, detached policy organization: We admire organizations like UN Women or Women’s Declaration, but we are not focused on high-level policy advocacy that feels removed from daily life. Our emphasis is on accessible contribution and tangible, local-to-global impact.
  • Not a media aggregation platform: We are not solely consolidating existing feminist YouTube channels, podcasts, or social media content. While we appreciate high-quality content, our aim is to foster original creation and direct engagement within our community.
  • Not a platform for highlighting general tragedy or fundraising campaigns: While we empathize with individual struggles, we are not a primary hub for sharing personal gofundme links or focusing solely on individual tragic events.
  • Not a book club for entertainment or academic exercise: Our book readings emphasize in-depth, female-centered discussions and the integration of lessons into our lives for real-world application.
  • Not a space for debating foundational principles: This is not a space for debating the fundamentals of sex-based oppression, women’s material reality, or biological sex. We operate from these established principles as our starting point for deeper analysis and action.
  • We do not entertain discussions that re-center male perspectives, patriarchal, or other tangential ideologies. Our focus is exclusively on women’s experiences and liberation.
